How to get Involved
In 2003, the Alumni Association brought together a group of alumni from the 1940’s through 2000 to create a strategic plan for the Alumni Board. The plan consists of four primary goals: to develop and foster strategic and effective communications with alumni; to develop programs that address the needs and interests of alumni; to create new opportunities for alumni involvement in student life; and to increase alumni philanthropy to The Hun School. The plan was adopted in October of 2003 and took effect July 1, 2004.
Committees
Six committees were set up based upon the objectives and goals of the strategic plan and each committee serves a specific purpose for the Alumni Association:
Nominating, Assignment, and Recognition
NAR serves as a conduit for alumni board members and class ambassadors. Nominations for Alumni Recognition Awards and the Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees are recommended and reviewed for honor through this committee.
Young Alumni Association
YAA is a group of senior students and alumni within ten years of graduation whose purpose is to increase contact and participation. It also educates the young alumni constituency about the importance of giving back to the School with time and philanthropy.
Reunions and Events
The Reunions and Events Committee is responsible for Career Day and Alumni Weekend held each October. They work with the class ambassadors to promote events for specific classes as well as area gatherings held across the country.
The Hun Fund
The Hun Fund Committee’s mission is to provide sufficient financial resources for School operating expenses, by encouraging meaningful and continuing alumni financialparticipation in the Annual Hun Fund. These objectives must be grounded in The School financial realities and must be consistent with the overall School mission.
Marketing and Communications
The Marketing and Communications Committee is responsible for expanding, engaging, and rejuvenating alumni interest in the School through publications such as Hun Today, the website, and various other means of communication that will increase alumni exposure and participation.
Clubs and Chapters
The Clubs and Chapters Committee oversees the various alumni groups across the nation. Currently, we have active chapters of alumni in Washington, D.C., New York City and Princeton. Networking functions, social functions, and outings are organized throughout the year. We are looking forward to the growth of these chapters in other geographic areas.
