Chamber Music Players
Small ensembles are formed at the beginning of each semester; each group is coached once per week at a time convenient for all its members. In November and April the Chamber Music Players perform two concerts in The Hun School’s beautiful Russell Lounge.
Chess Club
Community Service Club
Students meet once a week to plan and carry out service projects. An executive board of students runs the club. Examples of projects undertaken include a carnival for children, participation in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon, Toys for Tots, food drives, and organizing a trip for inner-city children to a local farm. Students work with other high school clubs and organizations in the area.
Computer Music Club
Diversity Club
The Diversity Club is a group composed of students from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds that interact and share common experiences. The goal of this organization is to educate the larger community about diversity issues through assembly programs, seminars, and cultural activities.
Edger Tones
The Edger Tones are the girls’ a cappella group on campus. Membership is by audition only, and the group typically ranges between eight and ten singers. Each of the Edger Tones has an active role in preparing for performances. They decide which songs they will perform, and vote on who receives a solo. During practices, they rehearse under the direction of their advisor, but at concerts a student member conducts the group. The Edger Tones provide a great avenue for top female singers to perform contemporary music and experience a sense of ownership in the group.
Edgerstoune Society
The Edgerstounian (Yearbook)
Students of all grade levels produce the Edgerstounian annually. Opportunities to work with photography, copyediting, page layout, and staff organization provide for a variety of staff positions. Students are welcome to participate that have an interest in writing, design, and representing an entire school year through this publication.
Environmental/Outdoor Club
The Environmental Club meets to plan activities that enhance the environment of The Hun School and the surrounding community. Activities include the school wide recycling program, planning and executing Earth Day, and raising money for open space in rain forest land preservation. The club works in conjunction with the environmental curriculum and classes. In conjunction with the Environmental Club, the Outdoor Club creates opportunities for camping, hiking, rafting, and other outdoor adventures. Frequent trips include regional national parks and state forests and are organized by students interested in exploring the outdoors.
F.I.S.H (Friends into Supporting Hun)
F.I.S.H is a group of students who gather to have discussion and prayer. During meetings, members come up with ways to actively support the student body, set realistic goals, and develop meaningful relationships within the group. The goal of the club is to develop supportive friendships.
Fishing Club
Forensics (Speech, Debate and Congress)
The Forensics program allows students to compete in one-on-one debates, extemporaneous speaking, student congress, original oratory, dramatic interpretation, humorous interpretation, and dramatic duo interpretation. Participation in forensics affords students opportunities for travel and leadership and enhances one’s application to college. Tournaments are held approximately twice a month, from September thru June. The team is affiliated with the National Forensics League, the National Catholic Forensics League, and the Philadelphia Catholic Forensics League.

The French Club is a conversation group. Activities focus on French culture and cuisine.

Gay-Straight Alliance
Mission Statement: The Gay-Straight Alliance seeks to inform and raise awareness about diversity with a focus on issues related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning within the community. We, as a student organization, strive to promote tolerance at The Hun School and to create a supportive and accepting environment where people can be open about who they are.
Honor Council
The Honor Council oversees adherence to the Honor Code of the School. The Council is comprised of both students and faculty members. Students members are selected through an application process.
Hun Film Society
The Film Society brings together lovers of cinematic art. The club views quality films — both popular and rare — and then discusses the technical merits and artistic vision of the production. Films are followed by lively conversation. From time to time, the club offers festivals focusing on a particular director. Membership is open to any member of the Hun community.
Hun Review
Hun School Investors Club
The Hun School Investors Club provides students with the opportunity to learn about the stock market, mutual funds, and investment strategies. Members make actual investments based on careful examination of specific companies and markets. Other activities include trips and presentations from individuals in the business community.
Hun TV
HUN TV is composed of staff enrolled in the video production classes and other students who are interested in television communication. HUN TV airs twice a month to the entire campus, providing school news, announcements, and human-interest stories about people of the Hun community.
The Janus Players
The Janus Players is an organization that supports all the theatrical production during the academic year. Members are responsible for maintaining all box office support, fundraising, and management of “house” activities during every performance. Any student interested in the theater is welcome to participate including actors, business managers, and backstage support staff.

The Mall (Newspaper)
The Mall is a student driven, student run journalism club which designs, writes articles, conducts interviews and completes all aspects of editing the student newspaper. The organization is staffed with writers, photographers, layout designers, and others who are proficient with a variety of software programs. Creativity and commitment are necessary components to produce a successful school newspaper.
Math Club
Mock Trial
Mock Trial is a club that meets in the fall and winter to prepare for participation in the state Mock Trial competition. Students play the roles of lawyers and witnesses in a case based on real life events. Participants learn much about how the law and courts operate.
Model United Nations
The Model U.N. meets weekly to discuss world affairs and to prepare for participation in the Model United Nations conference. At those conferences students play the role of representatives of a specific country in discussions and debates with clubs from other schools.
Paintball Club
The Paintball Club takes three to five trips a year to area paintball arenas. The club fosters teamwork, communication, and just having fun.
Peer Leadership
The Peer Leadership Committee is a group whose goal is to foster leadership, responsibility, and school spirit in its member’s ad in the School at large. The group is made up of approximately twenty-five students who complete an application process. The group’s main focus is in its mentoring of freshmen. Each leader is assigned a group of freshmen students to meet with throughout the year to discuss important issues.
Philosophy Club
The Hun School Philosophy Club was founded in 1998. The club is a hub of intelligent discussion, attracting a wide spectrum of students eager to voice their opinions regarding bioethics, art, aesthetics, religion, and politics. Each week, students congregate in Room 101 to provide one another with keen insights on responsibility, purpose, and meaning in existence. Efforts are made to integrate a rigorous curriculum that parallels the course of study in a typical introductory philosophy course. Regularly, handouts by authors ranging from Aristotle to Derrida are distributed and integrated into discussion.

Physics and Engineering Society
The Physics Club is open to any student interested in physics, engineering, or allied fields. We conduct a series of challenges, both physical and mental, usually revolving around the construction of a device for a specified purpose. Past exploits have included: building a bridge out of toothpicks and gumdrops; constructing a functioning trebuchet (medieval catapult); and running the Annual Hun School Egg Drop Contest. Enrollment in a physics class is not required to participate in the club.

Ski Club
The Hun Ski Club is a club set up to pursue the wonderful winter sports of skiing and snowboarding. Typically there are a couple of day trips that go to the local ski resorts of Camelback and Blue Mountain in the Poconos. A weekend trip after exams ventures to Vermont where three days are spent exploring the resorts around Burlington. Besides trips, there are opportunities to watch first run ski and snowboard movies during the Ski Movie Night. Giveaways and t-shirts for trip participants are a norm. We love the SNOW!
Spanish Club
The Spanish Club participates in a variety of activities such as co-sponsoring a Spanish dance, making pinatas for International Day, and visiting local restaurants. Meetings are generally held every week and are open to all students with an interest in the Spanish language and the cultures of Spanish speaking countries.

Student Council
Student Council is the primary student governing body of the school. All other student organizations fall under the jurisdiction of the Student Council. Its primary function is to oversee student activities and be responsible for the social events that take place on campus. The entire student body elects the president and vice-president in May of each year. Any and all students are welcome to join Student Council as representatives. As such, these students will be expected to participate in Student Council functions and attend meetings on a regular basis.
Techno-Raiders
Techno-Raiders are students who are trained to help other students, teachers, and staff to integrate technology at School. The Hun School has a wide variety of sophisticated equipment that aids the educational process. The Techno-Raiders are trained in trouble shooting. They receive instruction in the proper operation of the various systems.

The Writing and Tutoring Center
The Writing and Tutoring Center serves as a resource for students in all areas of academic life. In the Writing Center students are teamed with a peer tutor. The peer tutors are trained to work with the student in order to clarify, refine, discuss, explore, question, and finally offer written work that is better in structure and content than work produced without the assistance of the Writing Center. The Tutoring Center also matches students with a tutor, who will work with the student until academic self-confidence is built and the student masters the subject. Students come to the Center either through self-referral or teacher referral. The peer tutors are selected through an application process.

You will be part of a unique club that will allow you self-expression through your drawings and paintings on subjects that Mr. Rowland will give you.
Kickball Club
Didn’t get enough of the kickball tournament last fall? Do you need an energy release? Do you get a “kick” out of life? Come enjoy a weekly kickball challenge.
Hun TV
Hun TV will give students the opportunity to learn about and work with video. Students will have hands-on experience with creating and writing stories for the Middle School Hun TV shows. Students will have the chance to learn how to operate a camera and take videos for stories. Students will also be able to report and broadcast for Middle School Hun TV. You will learn the process and technique for professional writing, camera work, interviewing, and broadcasting. At the end of the year, some of the footage will be edited to create a Middle School Video Yearbook.
Scrabble Club
Need a break from the noisy, hectic pace of Middle School life? Would you like to play a quiet game requiring skill, cunning, and intellect? Then the Scrabble Club is for you! Whether you have never played before or you are a long time tile-monger, come and join the fun during club period. Immediate seating available. No shirts, no shoes, no Scrabble.
Hearts Club
We turn down the lights, fill the room with smoke and play light jazz in the background as members of the Hearts Club play out their Heart’s desires. It is a game for the experienced, inexperienced, and jazz lover. No experience necessary only the desire to learn something new while throwing cards. Come one come all, it is time to have a ball. Warning: This game is not for the weak hearted!
Craft Club
In Craft Club, you can make any number of different things. Make gifts for the holidays, or make yourself something. Do latch hook, knit, or cross-stitch. Have fun and talk to friends while being productive. You can bring in a project that you already have going or get help on learning a new skill.
Frisbee Club
Dust off your nine irons and take to the woods with the Frisbee Golf Club this fall. All you need is a Frisbee and good strong shoes (none of those fancy golf cleats please). We will throw our Frisbees on pre-arranged courses throughout the campus. No experience necessary.
Creative Drama Club
Do you wear the title “Drama King” or “Drama Queen”? If so, then the Creative Drama Club is for you. In the Creative Drama Club, we will learn about the elements that make up the theatrical arts, and emphasis is on the creative process that produces works for the theater. Activities will include improvisation, acting exercises, scene performances, playwriting, and play production. No experience necessary. Just be ready for some fun!

Members will work on puzzles, puzzles, puzzles. There will be shaped puzzles, light-up puzzles, 3-D puzzles and Art puzzles.
