The American Culture and Language Institute

June 30th to August 1st, 2008

The American Culture and Language Institute (A.C.L.I) is designed specifically for international students who wish to study English at an American school. Balancing academic classroom work with cultural enrichment, the program offers students an ideal environment to improve their English language skills while learning more about American customs and society.

The A.C.L.I. builds on the Hun School’s successful full-year program for students from abroad. Students benefit from the School’s experienced faculty who are skilled in techniques of teaching English to non-native speakers. During the summer, students are tested on arrival and placed in one of three levels. Classes are small allowing students to benefit from individual attention. The college application process will be covered including a visit to Princeton University.

English language study and practice continues as the group ventures out into the community. The annual rafting, camping, and Washington, D.C. trips are highlights of the program. Students also write and design their own CD of their written work, along with photos, that have captured their experience.

To attend this program, there is no minimum amount of English that is required. We also do not require the TOEFL test to be taken prior to enrollment. Students come to this program from Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the United States. Students from surrounding middle schools or high schools may also apply to the program. Enrollment is limited so students are encouraged to apply early.
